Southbank Bvd, SOUTHBANK, VIC The Iwaki Auditorium is a small concert hall that is part of the ABC complex at Southbank close to the Melbourne Arts Centre. It seats about 200 people and is well suited to chamber and solo performances. It is often used by the ABC for live broadcasts , particularly for the Sunday Live program on ABC Classic FM. The auditorium is the rehearsal studio for the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and is also used as a recording studio. It is named after Hiroyuki Iwaki, the Japanese born conductor whose long association with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra resulted in him being that orchestra's first Conductor Laureate. Maestro Iwaki died in June 2006.

The Kew Court House is a historically listed building that with the assistance of Local Council, State Government and Federal Government through grants including Heritage Victoria ($250,000), Department of Planning & Community Development Community Support ($100,000), Australian Government Regional & Local Community Infrastructure Programme ($486,500) as well as fundraising by the Kew Historical Society and the Kew Court House Arts Association Appeals Committee which jointly raised over $500,000 towards its current restoration. So after many years of being vacant The Kew Court House precinct is currently undergoing restoration and conversion to be used as a performance space for local groups, performers and emerging talents. When complete mid 2011 The Kew Court House Arts Precinct will be available to the community as a small scale arts and community development centre - providing arts, historical displays, exhibitions, recitals, product launches, small meeting and function facilities, as well as providing an intimate setting for performances and formal rites of passage. Individuals, groups and corporate bodies interested in booking the venue for 2011/2 and beyond should use the contact form below and register there "Expressions of Interest" (see calendar for available dates).

The Lithuanian Club Theatre stands out as one of the few theatre-style venue in the precinct, but not many such venues can match its seating capacity and performance space. It also has one of the best natural accoustics in Melbourne for unamplified voice and instrumental performaces and has been used as rehearsal space for groups such as the ABC's Light Orchestra and the VCA Opera School.

Conveniently located close to ACCA (Australian Centre for Contemporary Art), Chunky Move, Melbourne Recital Centre and the Arts Centre, The CUB Malthouse houses three theatres, rehearsal studios, meeting rooms, a bar and cafe in the heart of Southbank. Originally built in 1892 as a brewery and malting works, The Malthouse was generously donated by Carlton and United Breweries in 1986 with the vision to provide a home for the creation and presentation of contemporary Australian theatre. Since the official opening of The CUB Malthouse in 1990, the flexible, stylish and intimate theatres remain highly sought after by a range of organisations, including the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne International Arts Festival, Victorian Opera, Bell Shakespeare and even more contemporary dance and theatre companies. MERLYN THEATRE The Merlyn Theatre is the largest of the three theatres within The Malthouse and is named after Dame Merlyn Myer DBE to mark the generosity of the Sidney Myer Fund, The Myer Foundation, and the individual members of the Myer family who made The Malthouse conversion possible. The versatile venue offers a unique seating design and stage relationship which makes it ideally suited for drama, dance, music and opera - both contemporary and classical - as well as a unique venue for conferences, product launches and private functions. The Merlyn can seat up to 512 patrons on three levels. The Merlyn Theatre features an orchestra pit and flexible seating, with the ability to offer reserved and general admission attendance. BECKETT THEATRE The Beckett Theatre is ideally suited for performances and events that are intimate and engaging. Named in honour of John Beckett, the designer and theatre consultant responsible for The Malthouse conversion, the Beckett Theatre boasts a warm atmosphere retaining many of the original features of the building. The Beckett Theatre can seat up to 198 people on two levels. In great demand for performances from all areas of the performing arts, the Beckett Theatre is also used successfully for conferences and other similar functions. Entry is by reserved seating or general admission. TOWER THEATRE The Tower Theatre was developed in 2005 as a flexible black-box studio theatre. With flexible rostra of up to ten rows, in a multitude of configurations, the Tower Theatre seats up to 99 patrons. The performance space has become a premiere destination for dynamic independent theatre and intimate conferences.

Renowned for the finest acoustics for chamber music in Melbourne, Melba Hall is located in the Conservatorium Building at the Faculty of Music, a grand white building on Royal Parade, dating from 1909 and classified by the National Trust of Victoria. Melba Hall houses two of the finest Concert Steinways in Melbourne, and is highly sought after venue for solo recitals and for professional recordings.
