BK Opera
Link / Contact: Info@bkopera.com.au
BK Opera was created to focus on stagecraft, to help emerging singers create real characters with depth. We focus on the "bare bones" of the opera, stripping away the usual pomp and circumstance to find the raw emotion at the heart of these pieces. No sets. No props. No microphones. Just beautiful music and amazing singers.

Choral Institute Melbourne (CHIME) Inc.
Link / Contact: Phone: 0404 196 733, secretary@chime.org,au
The Choral Institute is constantly evaluating new ways to bring a love of music to people all over the world. Our choirs are our vehicle for achieving this. CHIME Choir - Our Foundation Choir This is our senior SATB choir of about 40 choristers. Commencing on the first Tuesday in February, this group rehearses weekly throughout the year. Performances include major mid-year and Christmas concerts supplemented with occasional Eisteddfod and festival participation. Weddings and community performances occur on an ad-hoc basis. Men and women who blend with our youthfull sound are most welcome CHIME TOURING CHOIR - Regional & International This choir is formed on a needs basis, drawing heavily from existing members. Participation by regional and city-based choristers is strongly encouraged. The choir is currently reforming for a tour of the UK, currently planned for July 2012. AUSTRALIAN CHRISTMAS CHOIR This choir is reformed in September annually in anticipation of the usual high choir demands of the Christmas period. In recent years this choir has had about 100 members. It performs at the Institute's Christmas Concert and performs daily at the Crown Entertainment Complex for up to 5 weeks prior to Christmas. Young Adults Choir - In formation Young adults between the age of 15 and 29 years are invited to audition for this choir. The repertoire is more appropriate to this age group than some of the more traditional or large SATB arrangements performed by the other CHIME choirs. That being said, the programs are challenging and fun. The social atmosphere is also excellent. CHIME Special Events Choir The Special Events Choir is formed on a needs basis in response to client demand. The choir is an auditioned choir with high standards required in performance and personal grooming. Recent performances have included the national sales launch for the new Mazda 6; the Richmond Football Club Centenary celebration gala ball; MCG pre-match entertainment and the Andrea Bocelli concert at Rod Laver Arena.

Choral Society
Link / Contact: hcs.asn.au/contact
The Heidelberg Choral Society (HCS) was formed in 1920. Peter Bandy is the Artistic Director and Conductor. Peter was appointed in September 2010 replacing Matthew Toogood who has taken up a position in Germany. Peter was a guest conductor in 2010 for our performance of Mendelssohn's Saint Paul oratorio. Peter will take up his appointment in February 2011. Tim Phillips is guest conductor for the December concert featuring Gounod's St Cecilia Mass. HCS performs classical sacred and secular choral works, as well as part songs, oratorios, operas and madrigals. Depending on music and available resources the choir sings both accompanied (piano, organ, orchestra) and unaccompanied. The choir is available for hire. If you would like to arrange a performance contact the Secretary - click here. We regularly perform three major concerts each year, usually scheduled for May, August and December. Professional soloists accompany the choir for most concerts. In November 2008, HCS in conjunction with the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Matthew Toogood, undertook an inaugural interstate tour to perform Handel?s Messiah in regional Victoria and South Australia. By (very) popular demand, the choir repeated this tour in 2009. In addition, HCS is available year round for one hour performances of a capella European sacred music. These performances serve as a mutual fundraising venture for HCS and charities and churches throughout Victoria. For enquiries click here. The choir consists of soprano, alto, tenor and bass and currently has approximately 90 members.
