SUPPORTING THE COMMUNITY

HENKELL WINES  supports the German-Australian community in Melbourne with a focus on the operatic and Lied art. As well as many sponsorships in the cultural sphere, our company also supports institutions with charitable and community-based purposes as well as hardship relief.

In the cultural sector HENKELL WINES  is involved in the following two Business-Arts Partnerships:

MTO-GAOG (www.mto-gaog.com)

HENKELL WINES  supports young Australian opera talent by organising the annual German-Australian Opera Grant. For this purpose we have formed a Business-Arts Partnership with the opera company More Than Opera Ltd.

The Grantee receives the opportunity to be a member of the professional ensemble at the Hessian State Theatre in Wiesbaden. This is the gateway to an international career for a talented young Australian opera singer and a very rare opportunity.

Through regular events the perception and reputation of the traditional art form of opera is increased and German-Australian ties in the community are strengthened.

CO-OPERA - EUROPE 2009 AND 2012 (www.co-opera.com.au)

Watch a short documentation about the CO-OPERA 2009 'The Magic Flute' Tour: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fib1k1JsILY

Co-Opera’s aim is to take opera directly to the public in country Australia, even in very remote Outback areas. Co-Opera, who is always “on the move”, travels approx. 30,000 kilometres per year to perform fully staged productions.

Co-Opera mainly works with young singers and provides them with their first professional employment.

With the support of HENKELL WINES the company was able to perform in Europe during their 2009 tour and again in 2012. This project also served to strengthen German-Australian ties.
